Reviews
Mine: VERY touching wonderful movie. From the great scenes on the dinner were they all work to the stuff at Michelles apartment with Nathan Lane. Sweet, funny and real.
Leonard Maltin/Plot synopsis: Winning (if overlong) Hollywoodization of Terrence McNally's Off-Broadway play Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. Pacino (never more appealing) plays a man recently released from prison who gets a job as a short-order cook and falls in love with a waitress who tries to keep all social contact at arm's length. Pfeiffer manages to overcome her miscasting with an equally affecting performance. A moving ode to loneliness, with poignant vignettes accompanied by Marvin Hamlisch's music. Screenplay by the playwright.
